I finally saw Star Wars, and it was FAB! Kudos to Michael Kaplan for excellent costume design! You might be asking why I'm talking about clothes and Star Wars. My answer? I watch all movies for the clothes, and Star Wars has always had great clothes. This film is no exception!
Here's a list of the top 5 looks:
1. Rey's outfit
Rey's outfit was what the perfect level of desert apocalypse chic! If you have noticed, that's sort of the style here. I love a structured drape, and we get that spades from the vest to the pants! The designers used gauze, cotton, and raw silk to complete this look, but the leather belt stole the show! I'm pretty sure, our jewelry designer friend, Beltshazzar has something similar in her inventory!
SPOILER: Do you think she inherited her style from her mom, General Organa? Seriously, who are her parents??
My favorite fan art by Michelle Thompkins!
2. Rebellion helmets
I love how this moves really plays up the symbols! The rebellion helmets have a vintage vibe and incorporate the rebellion symbol with the respective pilots planets. I'm partial to the rebellion symbol because it's part of my 3d printed Star Wars inspired jewelry collection, but how cool is it to see the Alliance Starbird all over the place? Very.
Even the Dumb Drum trailer picks up on all the details
3. Poe's pilot uniform
Swag. Jumpsuits are totally in for women, but has Poe just switched up the game in this utilitarian jumpsuit? Will we see men rock this look in 2016? Um, and peep the Alliance Starbird symbol on his vest.
4. Kylo Ren's outfit
Bad guys have always had the best outfits. Cruella's furs, Ursela's sweetheart body hugging latex tentacle dress, and now, Kylo Ren. Mean...confused...Kylo Ren. As we all know, everyone looks good in a cape. Give it some texture and make it black. Now you've got yourself a stunning outfit! His Sith mask might be one of my favorites of the entire series.
SPOILER: Is he really a good guy infiltrating the Siths, or is he just a bad guy? I'd like to think that anyone this well dressed has enough light in him to destroy the Siths once and for all!
5. Captain Phasma
Girl boss, Phasma, is technically a bad guy too, but that metallic body job on her storm trooper's uniform paired with that cape says, "I'm here to work!"
SPOILER: Is she secretly a good guy too? She evaluated Finn and let him off. Hmm...not buying how all that went down.
What were your favorite looks from the film?
